Saturday ride
Well, the forecast is not good for this Saturday's ride. I have been getting questions about the plan. Here's what I say. I'm going to stick to the plan to ride to Young's as previously posted. I will arise at 6:00 AM Saturday and see what it's looking like. If it's not raining but looks like rain, I will probably go by the plan. If it's raining a little, I may divert to a shorter ride to Catawba. If it's real bad, I may just drive to Catawba. If there's a definitive answer, I will post something at 6:15. Otherwise I will just make a judgement call at the last minute. That's about the best I can say for now. Watch the weather and watch the blog. I figure with TOSRV coming up, I don't want to be a sissy about it. More than once, I have ridden that one in a driving rain. I don't like it but you gotta do what you gotta do.
You got me worried!
Mike,We have all sceen you ride before! The extra mile is not in your Vocabulary! Sorry about your luck! 63miles is a good warm up to a real ride!jj

Saturday ride 4/24/10
This Saturday we will change things up a bit. Calvin's Challenge will be one week out and TOSRV will be two weeks out. As we try to get in our miles in preparation for these early season events, things are starting to get serious! Saturday we will start at New Moorefield at 7:00 AM as usual, then go to Young's for breakfast. Route will be east on Moorefield Rd, right on Grant Rd, cross Columbus Rd to Redmond Rd (road is closed to through traffic but bridge is still there), left on National Rd, right on Titus Rd to Ridge Rd, right on Pitchin Rd, through Pitchin, right on Jackson Rd, to Rt 68 to Youngs. Return will be through town on the bike path. Mileage is about 44 total. Depending on interest, we may do an optional return around the west side of town, following the start of the Youngs MC 150 ride. We will make sure to have someone knowlegable of the route either way, to ensure no one gets lost. Miles for the optional route will approach 60.
I really like this thing!

Sunday Lamp Shop Ride
It was an awesome ride. I don't think it got above 55 degrees, but the sky was deep blue with a few puffy clouds. A little windy, but nothing serious. Joe, Terry, and Tracy were there. Where were you? We had a few theories including domestic lock-down, watching NASCAR on TV, or some other such reason. Almost to the Lamp Shop, Joe had a flat. We fixed it quickly, perhaps too quickly as the tire was not correctly seated on the rim. Another stop and some fiddling got it fixed. We stopped at the Catawba mall and got fried balony sandwiches. So delicious. Returned via Neer Road. It was a great ride and a great day to be alive.
Could You Hang With Them??
Re: Salt Lake City Marathon
According to a report on the Footbiking in the USA Facebook group, the four
footbikers - Sarah Cox, Chris Cox, Jeff Oakie, and Mat Greensides - finished
the 25-mile (40.23 k) Salt Lake City Marathon bike tour in 1:36, well under the
cutoff time of 1:45. It's not clear what their exact time was, but if they
finished in exactly 1:36, their average speed was 15.625 mph (25.146 kph). That
