Saturday ride report

Yes, boys and girls, we did ride on Saturday! Joe, James, and I rode and Herb joined us for breakfast. At 25 degrees it wasn't too bad and it felt good to turn the pedals. Most of us hadn't ridden since January 1. Roads were damp but thankfully ice-free. Better days are ahead, my friends.
Oh, the picture? It has nothing to do with the Saturday ride. It was France, day 1 (pre-crash). What a glorious ride!

"DO WHAT YOU THINKS BEST FOR YOU!!!!!"

Just went out to get paper ,No ice or snow on windshield, streets were damp but did'nt appear icey... Temp. is 25.f so I'm still riding... I,m going cautiously, the long normal route to catawba. Please don't let me influence you one way or another,,,,, DO what you feel is right and "SAFE" !!!!!If the majority is hiking,I will leave my house to ride at 7:30, that is a solid hour to siss's, and that way maybe we can time our approach the same.... PLEASE BE SAFE!!Enjoy the ride.. Enjoy the hike.... which ever one you choose.

GPS tracking

Found this app for GPS enabled phones that if you are out riding by yourself it will track your location, speed and heading in REAL TIME!  People log in on any computer (and I believe cell phones also) and see where you are at.  You can use it for biking, hiking, driving....  I just did a test drive and it worked great.  The best part is it's FREE!  And we all know Joe loves free stuff! Haha!

TOSRV sign-up

Well, I have signed up for TOSRV.
I am rider 526. The half. So far have had no luck with accomodations at Portsmouth. Super 8 is booked, and Holiday Inn Express continues their bizarre sign up protocol. Call back in March, they said. I guess I will have to be wait-listed, or else do the gym floor thing. Last year I went on the wait list for the Ramada, and they called me on the day of the event to say they had a room for me!

Well, lets hear it????

Come on, lets hear some Chatter,
comment, like in the comment box, man! your up! Batter,Batter, Batter!!!!!!!

Saturday Ride?

Will we ride? Or hike? Should be just under 20 degrees.

A ride could be do-able if the roads stay clear. We don't all have studded tires, Joe. All I can say is "stay tuned". We will depart at 7:30. If a ride, from Joe's house. If a hike, from the parking lot north of the marina (disc golf).

Oh Yea! where do i sign up at?

The Monomed Single Blade Kicksled is another cool winter sled device that we came across. The first confirmed sighting of the Monomed Single Blade Kicksled was in Sweden around 1870. To operate, you stand on the one metal runner, and to move along, you kick like a skateboard with one foot alongside the runner. It takes some practice to be able to operate this, but once you have learned it you will travel fast over hard packed surfaces. Looks like fun! You can buy this kicksled for a price of $457.

Dont mind a turkey every now and then, but don't want to run into something like this! unless im on my Footbike! hahahahhahaah!

"hiking with the TURKEYS"

Thats right, as we were leaving the resevoir this morning, this "turkey" wanted to race me in the truck...She,,,, This is a female, actually trotted beside me as I drove away, Then when I stopped she got right up to the window and was "pekkin" at the truck.... Joe & Brian were behind me in thier vehicles and needless to say ,they could'nt believe what they were seeing,, of course Joe laughing as the turkey chased me back in the truck for safety, this bird would have "plucked " my eyeballs out......
