Saturday Ride - NOT

The weather was just too bad for a ride today, but that didn't stop Joe, James, Caleb, Terry, Brian S. and Doug from meeting for breakfast at Catawba. We missed you Tracy and Brian C. The pancakes were great, and it gave us an opportunity to work on our plans for the TOSRV ride in May. Registration opens next week, and Portsmouth not having an abundance of motel rooms, we need to secure lodging early. Apparently, sleeping on a school gym floor with 3,000 of our closest friends after riding 108 miles, is not our idea of fun. Hey, I'm old, and I need my sleep!

We are still trying to convince some holdouts to join us. The Friday night expo and spaghetti warehouse sound great, but the stories of the entire ride back last year in the rain, not so much. We will keep working on them.

A hike in CJB was planned to make up for the no ride, but we decided it was just too bad outside. Like Joe said, it never held us back before, but fear and common sense finally prevailed. We aren't as dumb as we look.

  1. Terry- you will be glad to know that I have secured a motel room for us in Portsmouth. The Super 8 still had rooms available and after talking to the Holiday Inn I decided I had better lock one up when I could. The Holiday Inn gave me the same story about somebody calling next week. The problem is they ma be calling to tell us that there are no more rooms. As for the rest of the group- they are on their own.
