6/25 ride report

It was a nice, calm midweek ride until the ride back, then it cut loose like the night Andy Dufresne broke out of Shawshank. Joe, Tracy, and I had just finished a repeat of the McConkey Cemetery cradle, and were cooling our heels in front of Sis's, watching the darkening sky and contemplating our next move. We wisely decided to return by way of the direct route. As we were approaching Vernon-Asbury, the rain started. The wind kicked up and the temperature dropped about 50 degrees (it felt like). Visibility dropped to nothing and the wind was about to blow me over. I think it was hailing. I couldn't see Joe or Tracy, who were right behind me, so I pulled off the road and waited it out. They might have gotten swept away to Munchkin land, for all I knew. Pretty soon it let up a little and Joe and Tracy came over the hill. We returned home completely drenched, only to find that our yards hardly got a sprinkle.
